Summary: Extremely happy with the view and location of property. We had lots of fun! Cottage was cute and rustic. Had to clean the mice poop, ants, maggots and dead mice.

Summary: The reviews are correct. Fabulous location. Terrific sunsets. But plan to clean when you arrive. Try contacting the friendly neighbour after you've booked, but before your stay, to see what state the previous renters left the place. And bring a sheet for each mattress even if you have sleeping bags. Even if you've vacuumed the mattress of mouse droppings, you'll want the extra layer.

Summary: Great location right on waterfront cobble beach, shallow water entry and great for fishing and swimming. One canoe is there for use, plus we had our own SUP boards. Bring your own PFDs. Beautiful sunsets; exposed to westerly winds. Close to Gore Bay and central location to explore the island. Old and rustic family cottage, needed cleaning upon arrival (mice, ants) but has its own charm. BBQ was old and didn't work properly; we grilled and enjoyed the outside open fire pit (wood was provided). Need to bring all necessities (bed linen, sleeping bags, towels etc.). Water is sourced from natural spring beside driveway, we had no problem drinking it. Make sure to take the garbage tag with you as the township won't accept your garbage and recycling at the waste transfer station unless you show them the tag. Overall pleasant stay.

Summary: Overall we had a very good experience at this cottage. I found it clean when we got there and most of the necessities I would expect to be there were available. It was great for my boys and I to reconnect after having such a difficult year and 1/2 since loosing their father at such young ages. My husband was an avid fisherman and would have loved being there with us. My boys were able to catch fish and even tho we experienced a terrible storm the second night we were there and had no power for almost 6 hours, the owners had many games available for us to play and reconnect. My only complaint would be that we had to refill the propane which is the reason I’m not giving 5 stars. We would definitely stay here again. I would like to add that for the price you get all the comforts of home with a beautiful spot on the lake. Also my puppy quite loved it there as well. He enjoyed being able to swim everyday and it really wore him out which was good. Thanks again Wendy and Jim.

Summary: My family enjoyed our stay at the cottage, it was quiet and our spot was somewhat private. The view into the Bay was beautiful, and sunsets gorgeous. We enjoyed many trips on the canoe, and the kids enjoyed swimming and fishing. The cottage was clean when we arrived, and we assured that it was clean when we left. Only issues we had was trying to find proper place to dump our garbage, and in the end we had to take it home with us. Also property should supply Propane for BBQ, considering price payed for the week. Kitchen was well stocked, they had the basics. Kitchen fridge may need to get maintenance, we found it was not that cold, and some of our food spoiled quickly. But besides that, we had a good time and will visit the Island again.

Summary: The bay and the location is beautiful. Everything in the cottage works, but it is managed mainly by guests. Thankfully, we did not have to even look at the bunkie and the previous guests left the place in good order. You will need to bring absolutely everything, from drinking water, to bedding and BBQ propane. You will also need to clean and figure out your own garbage disposal. As we could not take a garbage with us and did not find a required tag in order to disposed it, Wendy was able to accommodate us and have it disposed. The place is full of junk, personal items and leftover pantry items. I would consider staying at a place like this only if it was offered by family or friends for free. It is not a type of a place I am looking for to spend holidays at. We were lucky and had amazing weather so we spent our time outdoors. The bay and the water are amazing as well as sunsets and fishing. If you don't mind doing all the work, don't mind the state of the place and plan to fish or spend your time outside then it may be ok. We did not find it overly comfortable, but we made most of it. Given it is COVID and that the place is not managed outside of what guest do, we were not too keen as most other people that rent take great care to ensure their place is safe and clean without clutter and personal items left behind. This is way too expensive for what it is.

Summary: We spent a very happy week in this comfortable cabin right on the water in a gorgeous bay on the North Channel. Watched sunsets every night; used the canoe to explore a nearby cove and saw a bald eagle hunting for her babies—the nest clearly visible. A short drive from Gore Bay. Wendy reached out ahead of time to make sure we brought everything we would need, and the neighbors were very friendly and helpful. If I return to Manitoulin, I hope to stay here again.

Summary: Good appliances and great view. But it was dirty and full of excess stuff, including a half bottle of whiskey, multiple toasters, multiple pairs of reading glasses, toothbrushes, and bedding stuffed in closets (with moths). No space for guest supplies. Bunkie railing was still broken. Garbage instructions from the owners were wrong in writing and by text. Pile of dirt on one of the beds in the bunkie. Mice everywhere in the cottage. We found most of the hidden traps and used them with some success. Told the owners about it all midway through the stay. It seems that a neighbour is supposed to check things out but my thought is that this requires more than a friendly neighbour. It needs a complete clean out. I liked the rustic cottage but the messiness and junk lead to the low score.

Summary: Kids had a great time in the bunkie. Close to shopping and Bridal Veil Falls & trail. Wendy gave us a lot of great advice for this our first trip to Manitoulin. Tiny place but easily accommodated two families. A budget friendly vacation.

Summary: The property as a whole was fine. The cottage was as described, two good sized bedrooms and large family room, with a beautiful fire place. At 25 degrees we didn't need it but would have had the temperature dropped. We did used the outside fire pit often, watching the sun go down and listening to the silence. was great. The bunkie was good for our daughter, son in law and grandson. The problem we had with the property was the amount of dirt and dust that was present both in the cottage and bunkie when we cheched in. It appeared that the previous renters hadn't cleaned up at all. The bunkie had garbage cans that had trash in them, also in the the bunkie under the table was a grocery bag with candy in it that the rodents had gotten into and spread around including on the bed. My wife spent almost two hours dusting and sweeping the floors. We also had to sweep the main cottage. There was left over food in the cupboards, in this time of covid it should have been thrown out which we did. Not being told of the water problems we hope was an oversight, and with Gore Bay only ten minutes away purchasing water wasn't a huge problem. We did enjoy our week, using the canoe and going to the beach. Our grandsons loved it as did our son in law and daughter. On the whole this cottage was very comfortable and if a good cleaning was done prior to our arrival we wouldn't have had any complaints.
